Pulmonary and thoracic surgeon
Dr. Michael Peer (Papiashvili) is a graduate of the Tbilisi State Medical University, Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia.
Between 1999 and 2007 he specialized in thoracic surgery at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, Zerifin.
In 2008 and in 2012 Dr. Peer underwent clinical fellowship in minimal invasive thoracic surgegy, including Video-assisted pulmonary and esophageal surgery, in Cedars-Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles, California, USA. In 2013 he underwent a fellowship in Charite Hospital, Berlin, Germany and another one in France in the field of robot-assisted mediastinum surgery.
During the years 2008-2010, Dr. Peer served as a senior surgeon in the department of thoracic surgery at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. Between 2010 and 2012 he headed the thoracic surgery unit in the Cardiothoracic department at Edith Wolfson Medical Center, Holon.
Since 2012 Dr. Peer is the head of thoracic surgery department at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center.
Dr. Peer is a member of the Israeli Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Israeli Society for Endoscopic Surgery, and a member of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery. He lectures at professional conferences in Israel and abroad and was responsible for comparative studies of different surgical approaches in the field of thoracic surgery.
